The new stadium of Atlético de Madrid Wanda Metropolitano, designed to meet the highest demands of comfort, safety and visibility, was inaugurated in September 2017. Awarded that same year with the award for the Best Municipal Work, the project is signed by the architecture studio Cruz y Ortiz, an internationally recognized team that, with this challenge, has taken all the Atlético de Madrid supporters to a new dimension.
The new athletic arena has a capacity of 68,000 spectators, divided into three rings, lower, middle and upper with about 20,000, 13,000 and 30,000 seats respectively, with 96% of them covered, in addition to 94 VIP boxes.
In the remodeling of the old "La Peineta" stadium, more than 1,500 Andreu fire rated steel doors have been installed, many of them of large dimensions, with concealed fittings and integrated into the domotic control system. All this in line with the objective of the club to prioritize the breadth, comfort and security of the fans.
