After revolutionizing the industry sector in the 1970s, Andreu possess today new manufacturing systems distributed over its 50.000 m2 facilities which allow to produce more than 300.000 doors per year as well as its own testing laboratory for design and development purposes.

Andreu’s products are present in thousands of households and landmark buildings over 40 countries such as hospitals, universities, theatres, airports or footbal stadiums, historical buildings among other institutional facilities.

The last 23th of March our company celebrated the 50th anniversary of the foundation when Mr Vicente Andreu Bort, the Chairman of the company, started its locksmith services in the center of Paterna town.

As per Mr. Andreu statement, the origin of the company is related to "Talleres Andreu" a humble workshop which, over the course of years, could progress and grow till become a leader in the sector. At the moment Andreu’s products have been exported to more than 40 countries over 5 continents and are present in such a remote locations as scientific base Juan Carlos I in the Antarctic. This successful trajectory was possible thanks to the principles that have been the company basis since its foundation: seriousness, well done job, honesty, human quality and full commitment with Paterna town where the company was started and continues until now.

After establishing the company in the first workshop with only 200m2, located on the corner of Jacinto Benavente Street and San Agustín in the city center, today the facilities are composed by three factories covering an area of 50.000 m2 in the Industrial Zone Fuente del Jarro. They provide employment to more than 300 people and manufacture over 300.000 doors per year.

Mr Vicente Andreu Bort remembers that the turning point was the Ensamblada launch in the 1972 year. It was the first steel door manufactured in Spain without welding points and it was patented as a new assembling system using two steel sheets which proved to be decidedly a solution ahead of its time. This innovation was a significant milestone for the company and for the entire branch. In 1977 Talleres Andreu became Puertas Metálicas Andreu, S.L and the following twenty years it has maintained constant growth thanks to the patented model door which is still a part of our products range with updated design.

However, it is not the only aspect that reveals the innovating potential of the company. In the late 1970s and early 1980s several serious fires ocurred in Spain claiming numerous victims. It revealed the importance of fire rated doors able to protect people from fire and consequently the company decided to meet the challenge.

For this reason, in 1985 year Andreu Barberá S.L. started manufacturing fire rated doors exclusively. In addition, the new nomenclature revealed the generational change-over process that started in the company with the employment of four successors, Vicente Andreu and Fina Barberá offspring: José Vicente, Amparo, Mónica and Alejandro. It was a gradual change as the founder continued in charge of the company till 1999.

The development of a big variety of fire rated doors supposes a permanent commitment with research, development and innovation of products and manufacturing processes. Andreu Barberá possesses its own laboratory equipped with testing oven which serves to carry out fire and durability tests. This important investment allows the company to be one step ahead of market demands, performing different kind of tests that guarantee to achieve the strict requirements and legal international standards.

Andreu Barberá S.L. celebrates half century of foundation having known how to adapt to different economic circumstances. The company took advantage of building boom in the 1990s, manufacturing more than 2.000 doors a day, but it also knew how to lay a solid business base that was essential to overcome a subsequent crisis in the planning sector.

In all this time it has become a specialist in customised solutions, being present in large number of unique projects in many countries, such as government buildings, hotels, hospitals, universities, shopping malls, metro stations, museums, football stadiums, airports or historical buildings, thanks to the trust placed in our company by prestigious architectural and engineering studios.

However, the strategic aim of the company, in the medium term, is to regain leadership of standardized products manufacturing, as it was over the business history, gaining presence in all kinds of buildings and spaces. In this respect it is worth mentioning recent inauguration of new production facilities, which will manufacture exclusively highly competitive series products.

50 years is a very special anniversary and Mr Vicente Andreu, through a special written communiqué sent to customers, suppliers, institutions, friends and other partners, wanted to express his deep appreciation to all the collaborators and entities which maintained commercial relations through the company history. He also wished to "say special thank-you to all men and women that have been part of the company employee workforce in the present and in the past and who put serious efforts, profesionalism and dedication to make of Andreu Barberá S.L the great company it becomes today".
